I think I’m pretty good at being frugal and I have a very regular, short list of foods that I eat but I think I could be better. I will need to be, anyways, once Im having to meal prep and pay for all of my own groceries.

Mainly I was wondering if there is any produce I should know about that is smarter to purchase, especially if it lasts longer, and if there is anything I can do to make it last even longer. I already often eat carrots, potatoes, and apples for this reason. I also have a bag of frozen berries I use to put in my yogurt or oatmeal, and frozen veggie mixes for stir fries and such.

I’d like to minimize my grocery store visits as much as possible really, I hate going. Is it normal to go every week? I heard about using the grocery store salad bar to get small amounts of veggies, have any of you tried that? Is it cheaper or is it just to minimize food waste? I like to get spinach for salad but even the smallest bag I find can be hard to get through fast enough.

Is there anything you’d recommend canned or dried over fresh? I don’t mind it sometimes. I actually rather like canned green beans. I live in the southern US if that has any relevance.
