Sorry if this is the wrong sub, but I can't think of where else to ask.

As per title. I need a car for me and my partner because she isn't comfortable on a bike and my city's transit is absurd -- using a bus costs us $80-120/wk. Looking at options, even economy cars really....aren't.

I'm after something with no bells or whistles, to use a bike I've owned as reference: https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Honda_CB125E

It's an air cooled engine with the minimum power required to safely go in an 80 zone (100 zones are also fine with a light rider). There is nothing on it that doesn't need to be there, you can do a full service with just the included tool roll in half an hour (no cams means no shims). All of the external parts are as generic as possible (blinkers, headlights and even switchgear can all be replaced with anything from basically any japanese bike from the last 50 years or after market parts), the only unusual thing about it is a slightly thinner than normal tire which was picked for fuel economy reasons.

Why can't I buy a car with the same philosophy? Granted you need water cooling, but why is there no 60-90hp SOHC twin with no entertainment unit and the ability to replace belts without taking the full thing apart? Why do they all have short run custom moulded panels/lights/tail lights as well as all of the interior fittings?

Am I completely missing models that get no air time, or is there literally nothing like that on the market?
