Hi!
I recently graduated school. I was recently doing a soft pull on my credit score for apartment hunting. This was admittedly my first time checking my credit score. After submitting my info, the site ( credit karma) asked "your credit file indicates you may have a mortgage loan, opened in or around [Month] [2016], who is the credit provider for this account?" And provided a list of creditors to choose from, with the last option as 'none of the above'.
I'm concerned because BOTH my parents are terrible with money. They are split; my dad filed for bankruptcy at one point and my mother blows through all her money & my brother and I's child support. I'm nervous that my credit line may have been somehow pulled into their bad finances. I haven't signed anything related to the mortgage. I'm worried that my mother is the kind of person to forge my signature if shes in a tight spot though. I asked her is she knew anything about it, and she said no.
Should I be concerned? Is it normal for it come up because I am family? Or is it a sign of something being very wrong? And if I need to investigate it further, who should I be talking to? My credit is okay but not AMAZING (I currently have no credit cards, just my student loans).
I appreciate any advice.
