My renter's insurance expired in July and didn't automatically renew like my previous insurer. As far as I know, I was not notified about the policy being expired. So for about a month and I have I didn't have insurance. In between that time, I had a broken pipe and it caused extensive damage. I was away for 2-3 weeks when it happened. My landlord, says the fault is mine for not notifying them in a timely manner. What are my options?
Additional Details: Apparently in the lease, I was supposed to notify the office of an absence of more than 7 days. Because of this and the fact that I didn't maintain the proper humidity. It's my fault....
