Hello!
I have been financially responsible for myself since the age of 16. My upbringing was toxic and stressful. I struggled paying rent, car insurance, car payments, and eventually college payments for years. Unfortunately I opened 3 credit card accounts over the course of 5 years just to survive. :/
I hate that I opened those accounts, but had I not, I probably would have lived on the streets. I worked full time and was in school full time to hope for a better future, but serving tables and working odd jobs did not exactly support my expenses :/
In five years I maxed out all three of my credit cards, with respective balances: 5,000, 2,200, 1,000. However, I graduated with a computer science degree but also have 35,000 in federal student loan debt.
To top things off, 3 months ago I broke my ankle in three places and had to have surgery...the medical bills total in around 4,000 and they are actively calling me looking for their money. :/
I did get an entry level job in my field and I am making around 40,000 a year...however my debt is extremely overwhelming. Where do I begin. :(
