I had come to this dentist two years ago and since then had switched to the HMO dental plan at my work. I had no idea that I can no longer go to this same dentist. I called up the dentist and made an appointment and came in and got the work done and then when I arrive at the front desk she says that my insurance is no longer accepted due to the plan change.

The lady at the front desk said that she was waiting for a fax back from my insurance company confirming my coverage but the fax never came back untill after the work was done.

Shouldn't the dentist have checked and verified that my insurance was accepted before allowing anything to be done for me?

Now I'm sitting on a $600+ bill that was completely unexpected. Can anything be done here?
