I'm looking to fix or replace my phone line going into living room of home. The other phones in the house work I believe this particular line was cut by the phone company 10+ years ago since it wasn't in use at the time. It's cut about 10 inches or so from the box outside the home but the rest of the cable is connected still to the phone jack inside home. I would like to use this jack as I need a line in that room now. Would I be able to wire some type of extension to connect it to the box or would I need to replace the cable completely and reconnect it to the jack inside the house. I've never done phone wiring before so not sure which wires are for phone line 1 or extra. Feel free to ask me any questions.
