Hello! We bought our house in August of last year and pretty soon after we moved in, the wallpaper started to peel in the bathroom and the ceiling paint also started to peel and flake off (so we decided we would remove the wallpaper and paint/repaint the walls/ceiling). I had 2 general questions I haven't really been able to find answers to and would really appreciate guidance.Regarding the wallpaper, I removed it from one of the walls and used adhesive remover to get it clean only to discover tile that's been plastered over. Would I be able to use Spackle/drywall compound/plaster to fill in any gaps and try to even out the grout lines before priming and painting? Sorry, the only results I could find for this were how to change the color of bathroom tile or completely remove it.Regarding the ceiling, my plan (after researching) is to scrape what I can with a putty knife, sand any edges where the paint it adhering to the wall, use drywall compound to fill in, sand, prime and paint. My question is, if the paint seems to be slowly cracking/letting go of the surface all over, will this problem return over time even if we get all the loose paint now?(We do make sure to use the fan whenever we are showing and neither of us take long showers but this problem seemed to become pretty apparent pretty soon after we moved in). Thanks for taking the time to read my post, I tried to make sure I adhered to the rules but apologize if I might have asked any dumb questions, my wife and I are first-time homeowners and don't know much trying to use Youtube and Google to learn as much as possible. House was built in the 1940's so we have our work cut out for us. via /r/DIY https://ift.tt/2Lbtvya
