I am considering selling my car and going carfree. For the most part this should not be too much of a problem because I live in the city and do not use a car anyway for getting to work or going shopping. I do however have some concerns for travelling longer destinations - especially when public transport takes longer than using the car would.
So I would be interested in hearing some experiences of fellow Redditors who have already gotten rid of their car. How did you adapt to the new situation? Was there anything that you did not expect beforehand? I know this will probably differ from country to country but some first-hand experiences would be nice anyway.
