Hi folks! So part of my work anniversary is a $1,000 flight gift card. (I haven't chosen my airline yet because I need to pick a place first) I plan on using it for 2 round trip tickets for my GF and I to go somewhere later this year.
So my question here is if anyone has any recommendations for places to visit that have a good mix of urban stuff(good food, bars, events) but also with nearby outdoorsy stuff like hikes and sightseeing, etc. And preferably not a super expensive area. We'll have months to save, so since the flight will be covered, I want to pick somewhere kinda far away, and focus our out of pocket budget on the time spent there.
We're in California. Top of my list so far is China. But I'm also curious about Norway and Scotland. Thanks!
Also, any suggestions for places that offer flights to the most places, and have a giftcard option would be awesome. As that's how I have to claim this reimbursement... via gift card of my choosing.
PS: The reimbursement can be used for multiple flights, but currently i've been looking at places far away enough that 2 round trip tickets for my gf and I would exhaust the full $1000. But I'm open to cheaper/closer places and doing a bit of plane hopping.
