Hi, I'm a Canadian archaeology student going on a dig this summer and I am trying to build my gear-kit with good quality items I can use for many tough field seasons to come. I am looking for a decent-looking leather belt with a buckle that won't trigger my nickel allergies. I can sometimes have reactions to stainless steel also. I had a belt when I was a teenager with a big cheap metal buckle and the horrific reaction and minor infection I got on my stomach is not something I want to experience again, especially if I'm working in a developing country. I haven't worn a belt since because I have been nervous about reacting again. The last dig I participated in I did not bring a belt and I regretted it every day, we spend a lot of time kneeling and bending and lifting and stretching etc., so not having one isn't fun. I am determined to find one for this field season.
I looked on amazon.ca and all of their nickel-free belts seem to be made of plastic and canvas and are quite ugly, while "looking good" in the field is not something I care about, I still want to like my gear.
Any recommendations for decent/good (yet reasonably priced) women's leather-strap hypo-allergenic-buckle belts that are either made in Canada or have cheap shipping to Canada would be greatly appreciated, thank you.
