My great-grandmother on my dad's side of the family left me, and my brother over $20k before she died. She would write us checks under our names for $5k each Christmas. My parents had gotten a divorce and my Dad abandoned us, refusing to tell us which bank the money is in. His name should be no where on the account (I don't think my great-grandmother trusted him; smart woman). My mom THINKS she knows what town the bank is located, but not which bank it is. I tried calling all the banks in the town, and none seem to have an account set up with me. Is there anything I can do to try to track down this money, or at least find the account to confirm the money has been taken out by someone?
