Just to add on to my post, I have Lupus and have been taking Plaquenil since 1989. One of the side effects of this drug is damage to the retina from long-term usage. On top of that, I was diagnosed years ago with en eye muscle problem, along with my eyes being out of alignment. As a result, I've had prisms installed in my eyeglass prescription for many years. I had vision insurance via different jobs over the years, but that coverage ceased back in 2015. I am in desperate need of new glasses, and due to the prisms involved cannot order them online or get them from a discount retailer (I've tried). I phoned my regular ophthalmologist a few months ago to see how much an office visit plus field test would cost without insurance, and it was, quite frankly, more than two months' rent. It may be that there is no succinct and immediate solution to my problem, but I appreciate you all listening to me vent.....
