This may be a stretch and I by no means expect things to last for life. But it seems Window AC units these days are just terrible.
In the 80's my parents bought AC's from Fedders and they all lasted around 20 years each.
Recently I've been buying the LG and Frigidaire models and they at most last 3 years. Since I live in NYC where it's really humid they also can't keep up. With the LG there's a constant stream of water out the back. With Frigidaire they don't have a opening in the back so the fan just sloshes around in a 1" puddle of water in the pan that never goes away. Like I said it's incredibly humid here.
Does anybody make anything good? Money I don't even care about at this point. I just need something to work and get the moisture out of the air.
I've looked into Friedrich. They are used all around NYC. But are they really any better? The reviews say not.
This is for a single room in a window.
