I really like tulips and want to plant a ton of them, but I'm not really willing to pay retail for the bulbs.
My employer (big company) has very nice tulips planted every year. The landscaper puts them out right as they're blooming, and takes them away just after all of the petals start falling.
It got me thinking - what do landscapers do with those bulbs? I imagine it would be fairly time-consuming (i.e., expensive) to sort them and prepare/replant them - do they just throw them out? Has anyone had luck approaching one of these companies and asking them for throwaway plants?
