Hey guys, quick backstory. Not sure what to do here.

I'm currently 19, living on my own, etc. I'm doing pretty damn well for myself, and I'm in a decent place.

Back when I was 17, I got a joint checking/savings account with my mom. It was mainly due to the fact that it's a free account until I'm 25, it's a separate checking and savings account, and they deposit my payroll checks for free (as opposed to 6% of my check on a prepaid debit card).

At first, we only opened the account for myself, and she was on the account just because of my age. She had the option to open her own account, which she did at a later date. If I were to overdraft, it would take funds from her account, and vice versa.

Fast forward to now, im moved out, living on my own, paying my own bills, and I'm steadily putting money into my savings account. I check my savings account recently, and its wiped clean out, with charges labelled "bankname-collections"

Of course, I call the bank, and they confirm that the "other party's account has been overdrawn, and they're taking funds from my savings account to cover the charges and fees, since it's a joint account".

After fees, her account is overdrawn hundreds of dollars, and she refuses to settle the charges, or go to the bank with me to get herself taken off of the account. I've been to the bank, and explained that I'm no longer residing with her, I have no control over what she does with her money, etc., and they insist that we both need to be present for her to be removed from the account.

What can I do? I cant close the account without her, and I can't keep both of our accounts in good standing, but she absolutely refuses to make the trip to the bank, or settle the delinquent account.
