Hey guys! I just wanted to post a review of some items I ordered from Nasty Gal recently! This is my 2nd time ordering, the last time was back in late 2017. I was really anxious to get my items after reading the reviews online (which I read after ordering lol) and wanted to share my thoughts after getting everything. Let me know if I should change the flair to item review!
I ordered during a 50% ‘sale’ with an additional 10% off and spent a total of about $135 with shipping on 6 items (4 skirts, 2 shoes).
Shipping:
I ordered on the 14th of April and the items were ‘shipped’ same day (label created) and I received my items the 23rd of April. It took a total of 9 days to get to me (western US) from the UK, not bad. For some reason the package needs to be signed for which I can see being inconvenient for some people. I missed the delivery but luckily my post office worked with me and I was able to get the package on the same day without having to schedule a redelivery or go pick it up. Yay! Total cost for shipping was $8.40, more than I’m used to spending while online shopping, but terrible considering it’s coming from the UK.
Clothing:
I ordered 4 skirts, all in US size 8. I’m really happy I followed the online size chart because the skirts either fit me perfectly or were ever so slightly too big. I’m in the process of losing weight so I wanted to order too big so I can take in the skirts if I want to.
I’m 5’1 and about 145lbs for reference. I included pictures of each item, sorry for the bad phone quality.
Overall: 3/5
I really love the print and cut of this skirt! I think the small flare is very flattering. The length is also great for me. I’m not the biggest fan of the fabric though, it’s a super stretchy spandex fabric so it emphasizes my belly, nothing shapewear can’t fix though. The stitching isn’t amazing but I can deal. No lining on this skirt.
Overall: 4/5
I think this might be my favorite skirt of the bunch! It’s far more flattering irl than in my pictures. It’s got a similar little flounce to it that the leopard one has, only asymmetrical. It fits nicely on my waist with maybe 1/2-1 inch room to spare. It has a side zipper that I hate though, it gets jammed so I might have to replace that. The fabric is chiffon(?) feeling polyester, so it’ll be great for summer. This one has a lining. The length is also awesome for me.
Overall: 4/5
I love this one too! I’ve been looking for a ‘leather’ skirt for a while but didn’t want to break the bank. I think the detailing/stitching on the front is a nice touch and I like that the skirt isn’t bodycon or too short on me. There are some loose threads on the interior but this skirt feels sturdier than the others. There isn’t a lining. This one is slightly too large on me and doesn’t sit perfectly at my natural waist. The zipper bunches and makes my butt look kinda weird too.
Overall: 3.5/5
This skirt feels considerably cheaper than the rest. The fabric is super thin but not see through. The tag does say 100% cotton, which I’m surprised about. This skirt doesn’t have a lining either and the stitching has loose threads. It seems like it will wrinkle easily. That being said, I do still love it. The slit is small but a cute detail and because the fabric is thin it’ll be nice for summer. I think the fit is nice on me as well. I’ll need to take this one in a little bit.
Shoes:
I don't have pics of the shoes because I wrote this review after I put them back into the return package.
I’m a size 6.5-7 in nearly all shoes and ordered a size 7 in both pairs. A size 6 would have been a better fit.
Black cork sandals:
Overall: 2/5
I was really excited for these sandals and was really disappointed. These shoes feels super light when I hold them (as if they’re hollow) and that makes me think that they’re poorly made. They look exactly like the photo from the website and are cute but don’t seem like they’d be comfortable to wear for any period of time because the sizing is so weird on me. The toe straps are uncomfortably large and my feet slip around while wearing them. They feel huge on me, I have nearly an inch of space between where my toes end and the shoes end. I’m going to be sending these back because they’re too big for me. :(
White sandals:
Overall: 2.5/5
The fit on these is better than the black sandals, the toe strap actually holds my feet in place so they don’t slide around. They’re still a bit too big for me and have an awkward space between my toes and the end of the shoe. The materials don’t feel amazing on the shoe and seems like it would scratch super easily. They arrived with a small black scuff on the heel. I’ll be sending these back too.
So it looks like I’ll be returning the shoes, I’ve heard horrible things about the return process so wish me luck everybody!
TLDR: The clothing is comparable to F21 or other fast fashion retailers and seems cheap but definitely not unwearable. Pretty decent, imo. I’m really satisfied with the skirts I ordered but I don't think they'll last a long time. Shoes are adorable and match the photos on the website but feel cheap (think Payless) and were too big for me despite ordering my usual size. I’ll be keeping my clothing items and sending back the shoes. I definitely wouldn’t order unless they’re running a 50%+ off ‘sale’. I don't think I'll order again because I can find better quality clothing for similar prices on ASOS and I'm a baby when it comes to paying for shipping.
