Just bought a house, circa 1950. Basement is finished, but has a 2” grade (over roughly 6-8 feet) down to a drain in the center of the house.I have 2 corners, bisected by a bar, that I want to use for an office and sitting/TV area.My idea was to create 2 platforms with pallets or 2x4s, cover with plywood and then some type of laminate. I would then cut the bottom to level the slope.Worth noting it is currently carpeted (and pad), with what we think is asbestos tile below (inspector assumed, but said only a test would actually confirm). Is this a reasonable solution? Short of reporting the basement which is a long term option but not currently in the budget, is there anything else I can do to level these areas? via /r/DIY http://bit.ly/2IxWLOr
