Here's the deal, I'm looking to buy a nice pair of boots that will last at least a few years. They're not going to be used for anything too crazy, I do a fair bit of walking to get from A to B (I don't drive). After a bunch of research it has come down to two options, a pair of Danner Women's Prowess ($269AUD total) or a pair of Original SWAT Women's Classics ($157AUD total). They both seem to be made out of similar stuff, but Danner is generally regarded as producing a better product and while Original SWAT gets some good feedback (on amazon at least, not so much here!), obviously they don't match the standard. But here the question, are the Danners worth the higher price since they are likely a bit more well made, or will there not be enough of a difference to warrant it?
It is to be noted, there probably exists a better value boot in terms of durability, but hey, I'm factoring in appearance here too. They're more being treated as an alternative to docs etc, since I'm not doing anything too extreme in them.
Advice would be appreciated! But any discussion on similar situations of the importance of brand vs materials/make is welcome.
