A little about my situation,
I'm 29 still living with my mom. I rented a place with 3 friends in my early 20s, but splitting it 4 ways rent cost next to nothing.
My monthly take home is 2500-3000 depending on hours worked. I recently got out of a long term relationship with a girl who was also living with family. Our living situations made it hard to find alone time and caused a lot of problems that led to the breakup.
The only debt I have is around 1500 on a car worth 12.5. That loan will be paid off in a year.
I want to become independent and I'm making enough money to do it. Feels like living at home has held me back from becoming the person I want to be. I always thought getting a place would solve my problems, but now that ive been approved for a lease on an 850/month apartment I'm gwtting cold feet.
Its not a particularly nice place, but its a good size and isn't terrible. I'm not sure if id be better off saving for a house. But how long would that take? Even if I stay at home for 2 years, I might save 30 grand, which still iant really enough to do anything with. And even if I had enough for a mortgage, I'm not sure I could handle that plus house upkeep anyway.
Is renting my best option here?
