I'm looking for some help. I am looking to DIY an electric deterrent for a bird feeder. I'd like to have the connections be the base of the feeder, and the metal squirrel come over the feeder. My intention is that if a bird lands on either, nothing happens. When a squirrel, hanging in to the cone, touches the feeder... ZAP! They bridge the open connection, completing the circuit. I want to have this be low powered. Ideally, it should be able to shock the squirrels, not to maim or kill them. The wife doesn't want to kill them.
