Research done: Removing sealant - the answers I have found have said to remove all sealant, however they tend to be about properly sealed baths where the sealant is not very deep, whereas mine is over 4cm deep and in layers in some places. Applying sealant - Some answers I have found say to fill the space behind where you want to seal, others say only to create a seal. The ones which way to fill the space do not say what to do where the space goes back about half a meter.I recently got my own place and I'm currently replacing the badly done and mouldy sealant around my shower/bath.In some places, particularly behind the taps where there is a large space (about half a meter back) the sealant goes back a fair few cm.Do I need to remove the sealant all the way at the back or just where I intend to reapply the sealant? When I reapply the sealant, how deep does it have to go or do I just need to join the bath with the tiles when it's full of water? via /r/DIY http://bit.ly/2IlsmTR
