I'm thinking of making a pet cage that is 3'x10' with a height of anywhere from 24-30" (knee level~) . I have some questions whether this is a good idea in terms of the materials and method i have planned out - i know nothing about DIY anything..My plan is to put the cage in a corner of the room, so I will have a 3 x 10 wooden plywood sheet on the carpet with vinyl stick on flooring (possibly get 2 sheets and cut them to size and connect them by drilling holes and inserting dowels and using wood glue in between - i need 1 main sheet to be 3x10 which i know they dont sell in regular stores). I don't know how i plan on doing this/ attaching it to the wooden floor, but i am leaning towards adding a "lip" to the wooden floor by attaching square dowels on the edge of the 3x10 sheet and then placing the acrylic and wooden sheet or coroplast, then drilling and screwing the walls into the wooden dowel that is attached to the floor. But I plan on having 1 acrylic wall (facing the entrance of the room) that also has as swinging door, and the rest of the sides of the cage are plywood OR coroplast - as it's much cheaper than clear acrylic. so imagine this fish tank like cage without a lid, and instead of all 4 walls clear, its only 1 wall that's clear and the others are opaque. I would probably attach the walls together (like the acrylic since they come in sheets of 2x3 and etc) either by hinge, glue, or drilling holes and using zip ties or something similar.would this work? am i missing some crucial info here? I will be researching on toxic materials and what not but for the time being, i'd like to know if this idea would be something that could last... it would be for a small animal, so it doesnt need to withstand the force of a dog or cat or anything. via /r/DIY https://ift.tt/2H6LOCC
