Someone recently tried to open two credit card accounts (one at Chase and one at Target) in my name. The letters I received in the mail from Target and Chase say that the credit applications were denied (one letter said the the application was denied because they weren't able to verify the information from the ID provided and the other letter said there were not enough accounts opened long enough to establish a credit history and insufficient balance in deposit accounts). The letters were addressed to me, but they had a different last name and my address was not completely correct (it was off by a couple letters/digits, but was clearly meant for me). My first name, which is unique, was correct.

***I'm pretty certain these applications were denied because I placed a security freeze with all three credit bureaus in late 2017 following the Equifax breach. I'm so glad I did that.***

My question is, what steps should I take now? I checked my credit report with Experian and Transunion and there was no indication of suspicious activity. Am I in the clear? Do I need to file a police report? Thanks in advance for your help.
