wall scraped down to the original wood.My house is over 140 years old. The person we bought the house from painted over a lot of the old wood features.I was going to sand down the paint to make it smooth and repaint it, but as I got going, I scraped and sanded several layers of paint and got to the wood.I got to thinking this would be much prettier stained instead of painted.A couple of questions though-Is there a way for me to tell what kind of wood this is?The sanding and scraping that I did so far was really tedious. Is there an easier way to do this? The paint tested positive for lead, so any work I’ve done was done by wet scraping, wet sanding, using PPE and 6 mil plastic sheeting, and following all of the recommendations for working with lead paint that I could find.Any input is appreciated! via /r/DIY https://ift.tt/2FsHkUh
