I was thinking about buying one, but reviews are scaring me off. Reviews on multiple websites are showing reports of bowl coatings seeping or chipping into dough, the fact that the shaft spring is no longer included, the attachment coatings are flaking off, internal parts breaking, etc. I'm kind of afraid that this is yet another example of a company riding on a good past reputation and cheaping out on their newer stuff just because they can. I was even considering buying on of their more expensive models with the glass mixing bowls but even that model has reports of glass shards breaking off.
Is this all exaggerated? Are there other stand mixers that are better for less than $400?
