It's the end of the month, and I decided to make the most of my pantry and freezer. I'm living in Germany, and don't eat meat more than a few times a week because I'm crazy in love with veggies and pasta. I shopped at Aldi's.
What I bought:
| Item | Price |
|---|---|
| bread | 89¢ |
| kidney beans | 39¢ |
| corn | 49¢ |
| potatoes (2.5 kg) | 1.75 € |
| kohlrabi | 39¢ |
| coke, 1.5l | 39¢+25¢ deposit |
| bananas (850g) | 72¢ |
| heavy whipping cream | 65¢ |
| TOTAL | 5.92 € |
I returned 13 bottles (deposit 25¢), so my total was lowered by 3.25 €, bringing me down to a total of 2.67 €!
Things to be used:
(pantry / leftover from last week)
| Item | Value |
|---|---|
| porridge (oatmeal, freeze dried fruit, raisins, coconut powder) | 85¢ |
| juice | 2 € |
| milk | 70¢ |
| pasta | 1€ |
| lentils | 75¢ |
| ground beef (frozen, bought while on sale) | 1.50 € |
| frozen fruit and veggies (cauliflower, broccoli, spinach, peas; cherries, berries) | 2.50 € |
| eggs | 1.19 € |
| mango | 95¢ |
| tomatoes | 69¢ |
| carrots | 69¢ |
| tomato paste | 39¢ |
| tea bags | 50¢ |
| cheese | 70¢ |
| canned applesauce (homemade) | ? |
| cherry jam (homemade) | ? |
| pickles | ? |
| Total value: | ~15 € |
So overall, my food for this week will cost me 21€ (=$24). That's still way under $32, and I could buy meat if I wanted to (but then, I still have a roast and sausages in my freezer). In case you wonder: yes, there's rice in my pantry, too, but I just don't plan to use any this week (no specific reason).
Meals I plan to make:
- porridge / fruit / sandwiches with jam, applesauce for breakfast
- chili con carne
- veggie noodle soup (carrots, cauliflower, kohlrabi)
- grilled cheese sandwiches
- hamburgers w/ oven baked potato wedges
- lentil soup
- creamy pasta w/ peas and tomatoes <--- my most favorite meal ever!
- mac & cheese w/ broccoli
- pasta napolitana
- scrambled eggs with mashed potatoes and kohlrabi
- spinach curry with fried potatoes
- carrot salad
- pancakes w/ applesauce
Any questions? Let me know. :)
