I've become sensitive to sound and an incredibly light sleeper. If people move about in my apartment building, I wake up. I have hung a heavy acoustic blanket strategically, but this only dampers higher frequency noises.I'm plagued more by the lower-frequency thumps and speaker-produced bass. I've found the Dohm noise machines somewhat effective, but what really gives me peace is when my boiler kicks on downstairs and a low rumble absolutely covers the noise spectrum. It's occurred to me that I could build something along the lines of the Dohm machine - presumable a small motor - but with a greater bass presence like a rumble.I've googled a bit and seen any DIY mentions include modifying a motor with fan blades attached. Do I need a mechanism to include a component on top of a motor to make noise, or can i find a motor that will make enough noise on its own?Any ideas besides fan blades to produce a more lower-frequency rumble? I'm more concerned with the quality of the noise, not the actual loudness. via /r/DIY https://ift.tt/2OwXdxn
