Recently came to own this old pencil sharpener. It's neither vacuum nor clamp base, and there aren't any apparent mounting holes. It just has 4 small rubber feet on the bottom. There's no way it'd stay still during use.

The base seems to be in 2 parts, attached by 3 rivets. Any idea how it would have typically been secured? It can be oriented with base horizontal or vertical.
i can't see how it would have been used, as is.
