I bought a used 2018 Subaru on Saturday from a Subaru dealership. When I first was getting info on the car last week, I specifically asked the saleswoman if this car was a fleet car and they said no. (I do not have that in writing anywhere) I was looking through the glove box after purchasing it finding the owners manual. It was there that I found an old Avis rental agreement for what appeared to be my car. It listed a Colorado plate which is where the dealership said they acquired the car from, and the make/model/color described on the agreement matched my car.
I purchased the car roughly half through down payment and half through financing through a credit union. The car was $23k and has roughly 24k miles on it so it is still under the 36k manufacturers warranty (don’t know if that matters or not).
I notified the saleswoman yesterday what I found and she said she’d email me the car vehicle history first thing this morning. And that she doesn’t remember ever seeing anything on the report that would indicate it was a rental car. The car dealership only just acquired this car a few days before I purchased it so could be they didn’t have good info on it. Assuming we find out it was a rental car what should be my next course of action?
This may not matter but I purchased the car in Minnesota.
