Hello Reddit!I am getting ready to rip the carpet out of my house and replace it with laminate flooring. I’m a little unsure about what to do with a certain area, and after trying to search and find an answer for myself I’m hoping to get some advice from the community at large. There is a hallway that leads to the rear of the house, off which an open stair leads to the basement. The stairwell down creates a ledge along the floor of the hallway. Here's a picture of the area, I've circled the spot I'm unsure about. How do I install a floating floor here?Any advice is appreciated.I would assume I would use stair nose along the ledge, but wouldn’t that require it to be fastened down and prevent that edge from floating and allowing for thermal expansion? If this is the way to go, would I simply give a little bit more room on the opposite edge that is along the parallel wall to allow for it and it would be okay?Thank you for your time and help! via /r/DIY https://ift.tt/2JFZPtI
