Does anyone have tips, advice, or musings on building a professional wardrobe without falling into fast fashion traps? I'm a woman in my 20s who mostly shops at Goodwill. I find decent pieces from name brands I recognize (banana republic, Calvin Klein, Ann Taylor, etc) but even some of these finds seem more like fast fashion than something I'll be wearing in my 40s due to poor seams and trendy designs. I don't want to look dowdy or unpolished but I also don't want to buy new pieces every season. What do you do? How do you stay professional and presentable? What pieces have lasted a decade or more in your work wardrobe?

For those who don't want to read comments: get wool skirts from J Crew
