Hey everyone, just wondering what the best course of action is here. I was considering signing up for this financing plan, so I entered my name "to see if I qualify." And a few minutes later I got an email saying "Welcome to Samsung financing!" I immediately contacted support and I have a transcript of our chat saying I don't want this account, I was just trying to learn more. He assured me I hadn't yet signed up for anything. But then a few days later I got the details in the mail.
I canceled it over the phone without ever having made a transaction and my credit score dropped 20 points. I filed a dispute with Equifax just exaplaining what happened, and they "investigated" but they ultimately confirmed/upheld the decision. I'm baffled. I have the opportunity to appeal their decision, but I'm not sure what to do. How do I best go about solving this?

Edit: To clarify, they did not do a hard inquiry. This is not why my score dropped. It dropped because I opened and closed an account. And my main issue is, I never intended to sign up for this account in the first place
