Embarrassing mistakes were made, so please excuse the throwaway account.

Wife and I are late 40s. I recently found that her last 401k was never set up with a proper investment mix, it was just accumulating cash. Now we have about $75k cash sitting there that should be invested. I also forgot about $15k cash in a Roth.

Now I am gonna do all my homework and hopefully even talk to a pro, but as part of the process I would like to get this sub's take on what to do with the funds. (If cheap index funds are the answer, as they often are, that is fine with me.)

Whatever is done, we certainly are not in a position to be retiring early so the payoff timeline is 15-20 years.

Thank you in advance for your thoughts.
