I've shared this a few times in responses, but thought I would create its own topic to hopefully help more people. I usually get a lot of push back when I say I spend less than $100 per month on groceries...especially considering I'm tall and athletic and eat at least 3000 calories a day (this would be about the same amount feed two smaller than average women). I created this basic budget to show how it can be done with specific items from specific stores. You might need to shop around a little in your area to find the best deals. I've rounded up several of the items to account for taxes, etc.

As a side note, you'll see this contains no meat or dairy...I'm vegan, BUT this budget leaves on average $30 - $35 per month to spend on whatever you want (after leftovers from the previous month), so you could use that if you follow a different diet. Everything you need for a healthy and nutritionally complete diet is included in the staples, though.

I won't be buying ALL of these every month (some will carry over a little month to month), but these items make up about 90% of the food I eat, and it leaves room for extras each month which is usually fresh veggies or items that last for months.

Spinach (20 x 15.5oz cans at Food for Less) $15

Pasta (3 24oz packages at Dollar Tree) $3

Pasta Sauce (4 24oz cans or jars) $4

Rice (1 4lb bag at Food for Less or Wal Mart) $2

Beans (1 5lb bag at Food for Less or Wal Mart) $4

Potatoes (1 15lb bag at Food for Less) $3

Bananas (4lbs -6lbs depending on price at Aldi) $2

Oatmeal (42oz at Food For Less) $3

Pancake Syrup (2 x 24oz at Food For Less) $3

Carrots (4lbs at Aldi) $2

Onions (6lbs at Aldi) $4

Granola (2x 15oz Fit and Active at Aldi) $4

Milk (Almond Milk at Aldi) $3

Tortilla Chips (2x 10oz bags at Food For Less) $3

Apples (usually around 10lb at Food For Less or Aldi) $5

PB fit (24oz at Walmart) $5

Chia/flax (2lb from bulk at local health food store) $5 (I eat 1tbs a day with my meals for the Omega 3s)

Chocolate Syrup (24oz at Walmart) $2

Blueberries (4 x 12oz Frozen at Dollar Store) $4

Bread (2x 24oz Loafs from Discount Bakery) $2

Nutritional Yeast (I buy in bulk, but maybe $5 a month at most)

Okay, that comes to $78 - $83, and like I said, I wouldn't be buying every single item on that list every month since I'll have some carry over month to month. That leaves a lot of room each month for spices, more fresh fruit and veggies (whenever I can find a deal on them), a few treats, etc. Hope this helps!
