I'm a small individual investor, not an institution. Seems like everywhere I look there's another pre-revenue, as-yet-untested idea that has raised $10M+ from so-called "Angel investors" and their funds. Based on the information available to me, the current start-up culture feels like a bubble where investors are being driven by ego and throwing their money around hoping to find the "next big thing" without sufficient consideration to the fundamentals of the companies they're investing in. I think that like any bubble, this will inevitably pop and many of these funds will lose significant money.
Problem is, many VC funds are not publicly traded and many of the ones which are already have enough capital and developed businesses within their portfolio to withstand a "crash". Much like banks in 2007-8, I think the smallest fish will be the first to go belly-up. Are there any currently-existing investing vehicles which would allow me to monetize this prediction (I.E. Profit if I'm right, lose my invested capital if I'm wrong)?
