Hey all,
Right now I'm reading The Little Book That Still Beats the Stock Market by Joel Greenblatt, who argues that ranking stocks by their earnings yield (EBIT / enterprise value) and return on invested capital (EBIT / (net fixed assets + working capital)) and buying the top 30 stocks (with yearly turnover) beats the market most years. I'm skeptical of something that sounds too good to be true, so I'm seeking to validate this strategy myself by setting up a very small portfolio on M1 finance and seeing how it goes over the next year.
Why not use the website that gives you a list of stocks for you, you ask? Pretty simply, I want to see how the site computes these metrics, so I'd like to have access to the data myself so I can see what's going on with the formula myself and potentially add additional filters if I wish.
I normally use finviz for my screens but it does not include these metrics. Do you guys know of any other service (either online screener or API), ideally free, that does?
