Our financial advisor suggested using his Capitect portal to make it easier for him to track our current portfolio. We’re concerned about the security.

I’m familiar with the concept of OAuth, and understand there are mechanisms where brokerages allow read-only access to accounts. This works, for example, with Banktivity and E*Trade, since Banktivity can fetch our transaction data without having the key fob number that I need to login.

But I can’t find anything about Capitect in the way of reviews or security. I don’t even know if they’re using their own software or contracting with an established third-party gateway. Nor do I know whether Vanguard or Fidelity have OAuth APIs. Our Fidelity accounts are all through work, and they don’t allow two factor authentication with employer retirement accounts.

Any suggestions on how to research this further? Or advice on Capitect’s security?
