I think I made a mistake last year. Around this time last year (2018) I realized that my gross earnings for 2017 were high enough to reduce what I could contribute to a Roth IRA. I ran the calculations and found that I'd over contributed (i'd maxed it at $5,500) and I panicked and withdrew the difference without filing the proper form to correct the excess contribution. Now I'm doing my 2018 taxes and have a 1099-R showing a gross distribution for the amount I withdrew. Is it too late for me to correct my mistake?
