I'm excited and wanted to share. I recently got a job as a car salesman. I took a huge leap after getting let go at a job that I thought I loved. If we weren't in an at will state, I would have had a very strong case. They did a lot of illegal junk.
Anyways. This new place is salaried with incentives. And I'm already doing well even for February. And already on my way to making the median salary for salesman. Even the GM and my team leads are like 'dayum!' I just worked on a budget using every dollar with my regular salary plus the bonuses (I went with the low side of the bonuses just in case!) And I can have everything but one card I'm letting my fiance take care of (due to their own over usage of it, but I'll still be helping later on), and my student loans, which are under 10k..by August. And that's with saving to help pay for our wedding.
But I almost cried. I've been struggling for so long. I finally took a leap of faith in careers after life forced my hand, embraced buying less and loving what I have, and after years of revolving around the same debt...its going to be gone. I've already made great headway just this month, paid off an account in collections and half of a card. I'm stoked.
So to all of you out there scared to make a leap of faith for a better life, do it. And for those working on paying off debt. You can do it. You will succeed. I feel euphoric just thinking about it and how my hard work will pay off.
Thank you for coming to my Ted talk.
