So basically I’m going on an internship in Hawaii this summer for a few months (and potentially next spring if all goes well). Housing and transportation are all paid for, so what I’m looking at are food, gym, haircuts, Fun, etc.
Haircuts, I’m thinking of trying to do them myself. I have a pretty simple buzz on the side and I’ve been thinking about starting to do this anyways.
For the gym, if my living accommodations don’t come with one, I’ll look around but I’m guessing all are going to be at very least 40-50 a month, a little more than I’m willing to spend (I haven’t actually looked yet). I can live with working on flexibility and cardio strength for a while.
So that leaves me with food and groceries. I eat a lot as of right now, but willing to cut that down, especially if I’m not going to be lifting and am going to be running more and doing body weight exercises. I RARELY ever go out to eat, I cook a metric ton of chicken and rice and vegetables and pasta and eat that throughout the week. Is cooking like this going to be sustainable, or do I need to start looking into cheaper options? What do you guys think about my spending habits and how I might change them?
I’ll be making 15$ an hour, around 45 hours a week. What’s some other stuff I’m missing for living?
Edit: my basic goal is to come out as much in the green as possible, having some extra money when I go back to school and have no source of income.
