I've been able to alter my clothes. I've saved torn and ripped clothing and save them a few more years of life. You know how when you get something from the thrift store and when you see it on the rack and you're like "why would they give this away?" and then you realize later it was because a button was missing?
Once you learn to sew you can save a good amount of money, you can really spend less money on clothes and of course you can make your own if you upcycle fabric.
