On TurboTax, it gives you the option of direct deposit or a check or a Visa card and this time, I chose the Visa card. My whole thought process in chosing this was that I would use this card to pay for groceries throughout the year, that way I could more closely monitor the yearly amount of money I spend on groceries. It sounded like a good plan in my head but I was clearly stupid in thinking this. There was never any mention of fees until after I submitted the returns. Apparently there is a $4.95/month fee for any balance on the card. Paying nearly $5 a month to have my own money on a card is ridiculous. It's too late to change it so that the money is just deposited in my bank account but once the money is loaded onto the Visa card, can I just transfer it to my bank and close the card?
