Hey all!
Now I understand vehicles, by their nature, are massive financial siphon, but some situations are such that you can’t get away from having one anyways... such is my case, and as such I have a small pickup truck out of which I squeeze great amounts of utility.
In a few years from now, I’ll likely need to start looking for a newer vehicle, but I REALLY like the one I have now, so much so that the thought crossed my mind:
What if I keep all components in as good a shape as can be, and when the time comes that the engine dies, swap in a new(er) or rebuilt one, along with the transmission?
I already do most maintenance myself as I am quite handy, so assuming the frame, drivetrain and other systems remain healthy, could it be a financially sensible choice to pour in the 10-15k necessary for a rebuild, along with the associated cost of heightened maintenance on every other components?
Excuse the format, am on mobile...
Thanks!
