A lot of companies discontinue old products this time of year. This can be because the product isn’t selling as well, or they are releasing a different size, etc.
This is also the time of year when a lot of departments in stores are getting reset (because of the product changes from manufacturers), or they are consolidating a section, etc.
This is also the time of year when there are a lot of coupons are released. Coupons can be a double edged sword, but they can work out for you!
For instance in a grocery store near me I found a 10-pack of Dove soap for 50% off as well as a few other 6-pack “flavors.” A grocery store typically has a higher price than a Target or Walmart, but Dove soap is around $1.25 a bar at retail without sales. Depending on location/ sales, you can probably find it for $.80-.90 a bar.
Normal retail for the 10-pack of Dove soap (at this specific store) is $1.15 a bar. On clearance it was $0.55 a bar.
I also found body wash for my son. I got a 28-oz size bottle for the same price as the 18-oz that I usually buy him. There IS a coupon available which would have brought my total cost to under $1, but I don’t use coupons anymore.
It’s not the only time of year stores do a reset, but this time is one that is pretty consistent. Some stores discount differently (or even not at all for discontinued items) so it can be hit or miss!
Be careful not to buy anything you wouldn’t normally use— that’s the opposite of what you want to do!
