I used to be an excessive paper towel user. I’d use 2-3 sheets for each meal, clean up pet accidents, cover food in the microwave, clean things around the house etc. I would typically buy the 12-24 pack at Costco believing I was saving money when I did that since it would last me 3-4 months. One day I decided to grab a big stack of cleaning rags and stuck them in a basket where I used to keep the paper towels and moved the paper towels to beneath my sink. This all started about a year ago and I have yet to buy paper towels. When I did this I was about half way thru a big pack of paper towels I had purchased before making the switch and I’m no where near the end. This was easily one of the best money savers I’ve implemented to date. I haven’t calculated my savings yet but I figure I used to buy 3-4 of those big packs of paper towels a year so $40-$60 a year. Now I’m down to buying a 12 pack once a year. When the rags are dirty, unless they were used to clean up something they could ruin my clothes i would usually just throw them right in the wash on a normal setting and I was good to go.
