I never truly realized the power of shopping my pantry and how much that would save. The last couple weeks I went through all the food in my house, threw out the expired stuff (there was a lot), and decided I would try to spend as little as possible while using up what I already have.
I spent less then $10 to feed two people for two weeks. They weren’t fancy but they were good and filling meals. Example meals were tuna melts with chips (2 cans of tuna and chips - $2), turkey meatloaf with green beans (had everything), chicken and broccoli casserole (frozen veggies needed -$1), Mac and cheese with hot dogs and bacon (cheese -$2). For breakfasts I’ve been having oatmeal with chocolate chips, both of which I had. We usually average $60 a week on food so spending this little was so awesome!
My pantry is emptying out too, which actually makes me feel good. There’s only two of us, we don’t need a full pantry at all times, kinda made me stressed out seeing all that food we weren’t using. Obviously your mileage will vary but worth giving a try!
