I thrifted some 100% polyester travel knits, which wear like iron and last me decades-- but some have the strong scent of parfum d'old lady, and I cannot remove it. I've tried Dawn (to cut the oils), baking soda, vinegar, lemon juice, clothes detergent, alcohol, hot water, bleach. Short of sacrificing a goat by the light of a full moon, any ideas to remove the smell? I may have to donate it back, as I cannot stand the strong smell.
