Bit of background: Grew up poor, left home young, took years to get my footing and now finally, at 20yo, feel somewhat comfortable with my financial situation but I’m not HAPPY.
I was in and out of jobs and the sex industry for 4-5 years and now work as a sex worker where I can rarely determine my income. I work four shifts a week making anywhere from $0 - $1500 a night. Meaning my weekly income sometimes pays bills and not much else, and other times I feel like I’m swimming in “excess” money.
I have so many ambitious goals, would like to buy a computer, car, start studying again, start saving for a house deposit, start saving for my retirement, etc. but I’ve lived week to week (sometimes day to day) my entire life and have come to realise that the problem is my attitude and how I view and treat money.
I find budgeting and sticking to it very hard. The theory is fine, I am great at maths and I understand the concept on paper but I’ve literally never saved more than $700 in my life and looking over the last few months of income I find myself wonder where the hell I spent it all.
Any and all advice would be appreciated 🌻
