I have a 2006 Hyundai Getz (3-door, 1.4L), and I've removed my stock MP3-03 head unit and am replacing it with an aftermarket model from Pioneer (specifically a DEH-S4150BT) so I can connect my smartphone to it. While I'm able to connect the main head unit plug perfectly fine via an adapter, I'm having trouble figuring out how to wire up the necessary components to control it with the buttons on my steering wheel. I have an Axxess ASWC-1, as well as an APPIOPL patch lead that's supposed to let me use it with Pioneer head units. But I'm confused as to how I install it. For starters, I can't find a socket or adapter anywhere that connects to the cable connecting to the steering wheel controls (image). Normally this cable plugs directly into the back of the stock head unit, and I don't want to cut off the plug as I will want to reinstall the original head unit if and when I decide to sell my car and upgrade to another one. Additionally, I was advised to purchase a separate APPIOPL patch lead designed for Pioneer head units, to connect mine and the ASWC-1, but the ASWC-1 comes with its own patch lead, that additionally has wires for connecting to the steering wheel controls (image of both, the APPIOPL is on the right while the ASWC-1 has the patch lead that came with it)). If I plug the APPIOPL into the ASWC-1 (image), there's no way to connect the ASWC-1 to the steering wheel control cable.I'm not sure how to tackle this problem. Where can I find a socket for the cable connecting to the steering wheel controls? How do I connect said cable to the ASWC-1? Is the APPIOPL unnecessary? Do I need to provide any more information? via /r/DIY http://bit.ly/2W0q5Bk
